While there are no breeds of dogs that absolutely don’t shed, there are those that shed less compared to other dogs, and they are often referred to as ‘hypoallergenic dogs’. Here are some of them:
The Komondor possesses one of the longest and thickest hair coats in all breeds of dogs; their long thick hairs tend to form curls that eventually become cords, which gives the breed their characteristic appearance. They barely shed and their tough hair coat protects them from bites and other predators.
The Bichon Frise requires frequent grooming to keep their long hair coats free from mats and tangles. Dead and lose hair are removed before they fall off, which makes frequent grooming a must.
Portuguese Water Dog
Portuguese water dogs shed hair but only in very small numbers. Their hair coat needs to be groomed on a regular basis.
The poodle is known to be one of the most popular hypoallergenic canine breeds. Their being hypoallergenic is largely due to their single-layer hair coat that does not shed.
