Cats have been living with humans for a very long time; and many tales and myths about cats have been passed down from one generation to the next. Even with today’s information revolution, many cat owners still believe these tall tales. But here are some myth-busters that can certainly change the way you see and deal with cats.
Myth: Milk is a very important source of nutrients for cats so they should drink them every day.
Myth Buster: Many cats are lactose-intolerant because cats in general are unable to synthesize enzymes that can digest milk. Drinking milk will give them an upset stomach.
Myth: Spaying or neutering cats can make them overweight or obese.
Myth Buster: When a cat is spayed or neutered, the main source of sex hormones are removed, which can have a significant effect on the urge to wander and search for potential mates. Fixed cats tend to become less active than when they were still intact. With this in mind, cat owners should make suitable adjustments to the amount of calories that their pet will consume per day to prevent excessive calorie intake.
